Dodd Garage Update - Letter from OSU President + Tree removal starts tomorrow

Good afternoon, NECKO neighbors:

We've received two important communications from the University about the Dodd Garage Construction.

First, OSU President Johnson responded to the neighborhood's concerns about the new garage and its impact.  The letter is available here.  

Second, OSU's Erin Prosser provided a quick update from OSU's on the Dodd Garage construction.  Notably, nine trees along the edge of the garage site will be preserved due to the neighborhood's efforts.  Unfortunately, some will be removed as was discussed at our last meeting.  Tree removal work will start tomorrow (Thursday 3/11).   Her email is below. 

We'll get a meeting scheduled in the next week or two to review all of this with OSU.  Stay tuned for more!

Subject: Dodd Garage Construction Update

Ahead of our next meeting with the NECKO community, I wanted to provide a construction update for this week. We were able to relocated the planned duct bank from the east side of the garage to the west side which allows the project to preserve nine trees that were originally scheduled to be demolished. The trees we are able to preserve are on the northeastern side of the site. This week the trees that we are not able to preserve on the southeastern portion of the site will be removed beginning on Thursday (3/11). In addition, some pruning of the trees that will remain will also occur. Please let me know if you have any questions.


I look forward to meeting with the NECKO neighbors to review the conceptual landscape plan we are developing to provide additional screening for the garage. I will send date options for the neighbors to consider this week. As always, if there are neighbors that have any questions for me please provide my contact information.
